The PAC supports the school community. It is run solely by parent volunteers.
Who is the Emily Carr Parent Advisory Council (PAC)? It's all of us!
According to the School Act, the PAC, through its elected officers, may advise the school board, principal and staff of the school regarding any matter relating to the education of the students and the school. As parent volunteers, we’re committed to working together with Carr families and school staff to connect with our school community and support a positive school experience for our children. The PAC works with the school to fundraise, run special events and create projects like the yearbook.
How does the PAC operate?
Meetings are held monthly and all parents are encouraged to attend, whether or not they are interested in volunteering. At these meetings, votes are held to decide which items, activities, and projects the PAC funds are used towards. There are many ways to get involved! Have your opinions heard and vote at PAC meetings, volunteer to help at specific events, or lead organization efforts with the PAC Executive Team.
What are PAC funds used for?
Past examples include: outdoor classroom for the playground, ukulele set, iPads, Saleema Noon Body Science presentations, subsidizing Gr 7 camp and sports programs like Elevate Ultimate, and much more. Fundraising is conducted in a variety of ways. Directly donating through School Cash Online to the Emily Carr PAC is an easy way to support the school. Most PAC-run events indirectly raise funds as well.
Stay Connected
Keep track of what's going on by receiving the weekly PAC newsletter. Watch for volunteer requests for events such as the Carr-nival, Back to School BBQ, garage sales and movie nights. Message the PAC if you're interested in helping behind the scenes with things like the school gear design and sales, the yearbook, the hot lunch program, fundraisers through companies like Purdy's or the Zero Waste Initiative.
